Partnership to Develop and Commercialize Low Criteria Pollutant, Renewable Electricity Dairy Projects
Bakersfield, Calif. – California Bioenergy, LLC and Preventive Maintenance Services Inc., including its affiliates, Walters Power International and Attainment Technologies, today announced a partnership in which CalBio will have exclusive rights to use PMSI’s Greenguard™ technology for agricultural biogas projects in the United States.
The partnership will initially focus on working with leading dairy farms to develop projects in California’s San Joaquin Valley.
With the patented Greenguard™ engine technology, CalBio and PMSI will design, develop, and operate dairy digester projects that are expected to substantially reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, generate renewable energy, and operate in a manner that keeps criteria pollutants at low levels. The companies are working closely with the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District on technology demonstration and project permitting.
“We have been looking for the right engine technology partner and believe we have found that in the combined innovation and experience of PMSI-Walters Power International,” said N. Ross Buckenham, California Bioenergy’s CEO. “With the large number of dairy farms in the San Joaquin Valley, there is a tremendous opportunity to trap and burn the methane emitted from the dairies to reduce greenhouse gases, provide a source or renewable energy, and also protect local air quality.”
“We’re excited to partner with CalBio in developing projects using Greenguard™ technology,” said PMSI Chief Executive Officer Chris Leleux. “We believe CalBio’s strong management team, coupled with our technology, is uniquely positioned to develop digester projects that address the regional air quality challenges in an economically viable fashion.”
“We’ve been able to combine our expertise in electrical power generation with our growing reputation for speed-to-market electrical power solutions and technological innovation in the California market to provide greener, more sustainable energy,” said Walters Power International President David Walters. “We’re looking forward to bringing this unique technology to market with CalBio.”
The Greenguard™ engines have been designed to operate on high-CO2, high-H2S dairy digester biogas fuels. The patented Greenguard™ combustion and emission technology is based on a ‘virtual lean-burn’ combustion process that combines the low-cost catalytic converter advantages of rich-burn engines with the fuel efficiency of lean-burn engines.
In addition to developing and owning projects, CalBio and PMSI are building an operations team to service their dairy projects and engines, ensuring continued operational excellence and service over time. This makes CalBio an ideal partner for dairies interested in digester projects.
